Swiss wooden hand carved toys and household items brought to Louisiana in 1919 by John's mother Marie add a touch of history. Along the walls you can also find vintage photos and fascinating display cases and shelves filled with vintage toys, vintage electronics, vintage home and grooming items and more. The final product makes a great addition to a keychain. There is even an old time metal stamper machine that enables you to imprint up to 72 letters on a metal circle by using a hand punch. You can have fun playing retro pinball machines and arcade games. There is a Rube Goldberg-like Marble Machine that kids of all ages will love.

He has bedecked a mid-century service station, a classic Creole cottage and eclectic exhibit spaces with recycled materials ranging from simple metal bottle caps to complex computer circuit boards. While I could go on in great detail about what makes this place so cool, it's best if you went with an open mind to find its magic yourself. Even if those people leave confused, it has them thinking outside of thier comfort zone. And while having a sense of humor will add to your experience, not everyone will "get it". He has taken the inspiration from TT and added his own sense of humor to create this one-of-a-kind experience. John Preble is a kind soul and one of my favorite people that we've ever met traveling around the states. It has a similar feel as TT, but at the same time, it has a heartbeat of its own. Having been to the original Tinkertown many times over the last 20 years I couldn't pass up the chance to visit the Mystery House while passing through the NOLA area with the fam.
